18+ w/ State Medical Card and 21+ who choose Medical Cannabis for a wide variety of reasons.
We want every house to be inclusive and without discrimination, however we can envision future houses opening with common interests in addition to Medical Cannabis (such as one house being mostly college students, while another may be mostly Veterans).
Both long-term and short-term community living. Shared or private rooms, with common areas for exercise, cooking, socializing and medicating with cannabis.
So far most interest and support appears to be coming from Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Portland, however we are willing to open new houses in any area with enough interest, support and where Medical Cannabis is legal in that state.
Although the Covid-19 Pandemic has dramatically delayed fundraising for real-estate purchasing, we are currently searching for cooperative landlords with houses for rent and still hope to start opening houses in 2020.
The need for all forms of community living should be obvious to anyone who understands the growing income equality and growing housing crisis in America.
The specific need for Mary Jane's Healthy Home is because most forms of affordable housing discriminate against Medical Cannabis, emotional support is almost non existent and isolation is a serious problem.
Every resident of the house contributes an equal amount to the House Manager to purchase healthy food for the entire house and has the option to prepare a meal for the entire house. In fact everyone taking a turn at cooking a meal for everyone is encouraged.
The definition of "healthy" may vary from house to house and every resident is welcome to also properly store separately purchased "unhealthy" food in their room. Our goal is progress not perfection.
There is no smoking, including Medical Cannabis, inside the house. Smoking will be outside and in some houses we may build an enclosed area for smoking in bad weather. We expect that most of our guests will smoke cannabis. Please however understand that we have a legal and moral obligation to prevent second hand smoke.
Although there will be quiet times in the house to allow everyone the opportunity to get a good nights sleep, there is no curfew.
In Las Vegas we are already considering part-time residence, some who travel for work and some who want to stay when visiting.
Community Living requires compromise. Guests will be welcome during scheduled hours every Sunday, scheduled public events (such as a Thanksgiving Eve and a Christmas Eve Party) and scheduled private events (such as Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinner).
Cost and amenities will vary from house to house. Not every house will have a swimming pool, hot tub and sauna (but we'll try).
Example: A single bed in a shared room including WiFi and all utilities could be as low as $420 per month, plus $200 per month for the Community Kitchen.
Couples will need to pay for two separate beds or a private room.
Note: The House Manager will assign chores for cooking and/or cleaning, however some houses will have the option of paying a housekeeper.
